Two unsigned items: a large engraved invitation to Buchanan’s “Grand National Inauguration Ball,” on March 4, 1857, one cardstock page, 7 x 10.5, issued to Miss Lucy Durham; and a booklet containing the “Message of the President of the United States” from December 1845, fifteen pages, 6 x 9.5, concerning the annexation of Texas. In overall very good condition, with staining to perimeter and a vertical slit repaired on reverse of invitation, and the booklet taped into handmade covers, with foxing and ink stamps to first page. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope for the invitation.
