President Warren G. Harding Signed Appointment
President Warren G. Harding Signed Postal Appointment 1923 partly printed document signed in full as president, 18" x 14", January 29, 1923, Washington. A postal commission issued to William D. Hale as postmaster at Dexter, Kansas. Countersigned by Postmaster General Hubert Work. Warren Gamaliel Harding (1865-1923) was an American politician and the 29th President of the United States, from 1921 to 1923, when he became the sixth president to die in office. Upon winning the election, Harding appointed many of his old allies to prominent political positions. Known as the "Ohio Gang", some of the appointees used their new powers to rob the government. No evidence to date suggests that Harding personally profited from these crimes, but he was apparently unable to stop them. "My God, this is a hell of a job!" Harding said. "I have no trouble with my enemies, but my friends... they're the ones that keep me walking the floor nights!" Toned else very fine.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
