1886, Northern Pacific Railway Stock certificate for 50 shares. Engraved vignette of a steam locomotive at top center, nice portrait vignette of Frederick Billings at bottom issued to and signed by ROBERT HARRIS: President of the Northern Pacific Railroad 1884-1888. Elected after Villard was ousted; former head of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. During the time he was NPRR President, until the return of the Villard clique, Harris worked at improving the property and breaking away from its tangled relationship with the Oregon Railway and Navigation Company. Signed on verso: “Robert Harris”. Brown/Black. Punch hole cancellations not affecting signature. Attached to stub, light glue marks to left edge. Very Fine.
