<B>President Grover Cleveland Autograph Letter to Umberto I, King of Italy.</B></I> Two pages, 8” x 12.75”, Washington, D. C., June 19, 1885, to “<I>Humbert I King of Italy</B></I>”. In this personal letter Cleveland announces his appointment of John B. Stallo to be Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Italy. It reads in part: “<I>I therefore request Your Majesty to receive him favorably and give full credence to what he shall say on the part of the United States, and to the assurances which he has been charged to Convey to you of the best wishes of our Government for the prosperity of Italy…Your Good Friend Grover Cleveland</B></I>”. At the lower left appears “<I>By the President/ T. F. Bayard/ Secretary of State</B></I>”. The letter is moderately soiled, with some significant foxing last integral page which doesn't affect text, with the usual fold creases, else very good. <I>From the collection of Henry E.
