Presentation variant Cavalry saber and metal scabbard with period inscription “Presented Lieut. M. Holm by his Employees” in overall un-cleaned good to very good condition showing a W. Clauberg, Solingen-marked blade with etched “US” and spread eagle along with an etched panel on the reverse side of the base from the maker mark “Schuyler, Hartley & Graham, New York”. The blade is overall good+ with some light spots of erosion, the brass guard has a pleasing patina and a folding section on the left side; the wire wrap of the grip is present with some of the rayskin having been worn away from handling. The scabbard is overall good to very good with a dark patina to the brass mountings and an even darker patina to the metalsurface of the scabbard itself; there are also some minor dents and some scattered areas of light surface erosion; a hanging ring a piece of chain are attached as is a braided hanger and sword knot that is in overall very good + condition.
