Presentation Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Single Action revolver to Venustiano Carranza in 1915 as President of the temporary Mexican Government, during the height of the Mexican Revolution; .44 Russian cal., 6-1/2” barrel, profusely and deeplynon-factory floral and vine scroll engraved (likely accomplished in Mexico) with Mexican variegated Onyx grips, #19299 (all matching) with Carranza’s name engraved on either side of the frame under the grips. Factory letter accompaniesthis lot, dated May 20, 2009, indicating gun shipped from factory on May 19, 1883 to M. W. Robinson, New York City, N.Y. (S&W’s largest distributor), confirming barrel length and indicating original shipment in blue finish withcheckered black hard rubber grips, 40 guns of same configuration in shipment. This gun is in overall very good condition with beautiful engraving, crisp action, sharp markings and beautiful Onyx grips.
