Presentation "Retirement" Plaque (12x15") containing a "This piece of Orbiter Columbia (OV-102) Thermal Protection system (PTS) tile (5.5x3x3") has successfully FLOWN on all twenty Columbia missions, including the first STS-1 on 12 April 1981. The tile was removed after the LMS STS-78 mission, launched 20 June 1996". The plaque also contains a piece of "Multilayer Insulation (MLI) that was successfully FLOWN on four Spacelab Module missions, including the Spacelab-MIR rendezvous docking mission (STS-71, the 100th United States Manned Space Flight". This plaque was presented to the consignor upon his retirement from McDonnell Douglas at KSC in 1996. Ex: the George R. Faenza Estate collection FLOWN.
