This is an excellent example of a fine 1938 production "S/42" Mauser Luger pistol rig, with one almost matching magazine, takedown tool and 1937 dated brown leather holster. The top of the chamber is dated 1938 and it has the "S/42" code marking on the front toggle. It has the early style "Eagle/63" Waffenamt proofs on the barrel extension and barrel. There is a single eagle firing proof also on the barrel extension, barrel and breechblock. It is correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" on the safety area and extractor respectively. This series of Luger has the all salt blue finish with checkered walnut grips. The magazine is a type two Army type with the unmarked blued and folded sheet metal body that has an aluminum base. The base is re-stamped "5277/b/Eagle 63". Also complete with a very good all brown WWII leather holster. This holster is marked on the back "O/REICHEL/LENGERFELD/Eagle/WaA142" and 1937.

Very fine with 90% of the blue finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots overall with minor blue loss on the side plate and muzzle area. The grips are fine, with nice original checkering on both sides, light wear across the tops of the checkering mixed with some minor handling marks. As noted this Luger has all matching numbered parts to include the magazine. The holster is very good overall with nice clear distinct markings on the back, nice tight stitching overall, with some minor surface scratching on the front of the holster.
