Manufactured in 1937. This carbine has "ILL STATE POLICE" stamped into the left side of the stock and "989" stamped on the bottom of the stock behind the lower tang. The left side rear of the barrel has the standard Winchester proof steel, trade mark and caliber marking with the two line address on the right rear. The top of the barrel and receiver at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proof, the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver and the upper tang has the three line trademark marking. Hooded ramped blade front and adjustable buck horn rear sights, and mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a serrated steel buttplate.

Condition: Very Good. The carbine retains 25% original blue finish, concentrated on the protected areas of the magazine and barrel and on the sides of the receiver. The balance has a smooth mottled gray patina with some minor pitting on the receiver. The wood is very good as reoiled with some overall scattered minor dents and dings. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
