Pre-War Springfield Sporter, by R.F. Sedgely, #1613, .30-06 cal., 24" barrel, blue finish, checkered walnut stock with Schnabel forend and Pachmayr rubber buttpad, with commercial Model 1907 type leather sling. Includes early Leupold 2-1/4-power scope on Echo rail mounts. These rifles modified by Sedgely in the early 1930's listed in this configuration for approx. $65. (See Feb. 1932 American Rifleman adv.) Barrel is proofmarked with Sedgely "S" thru the finish just above the caliber designation. Condition is very good to near fine, just needing a light overall cleaning. Approx. 95% blue is retained. Stock shows light overall scratching from field use. Considerable finish wear to magazine floorplate as it is the balance point. Pre-war scope optics remain clear. Action is crisp, bore is excellent. Est.: $750-$1,000.
