Manufactured in 1931, this five screw model is built on the .38 Hand Ejector square-butt K frame. The pinned replacement barrel has a standard two line marking ending with the 1914 patent, the left side is marked "SMITH & WESSON" and the caliber designation on the right side. Pinned Patridge type front and adjustable rear sights. Standard frame markings, blue finish, with casehardened hammer and trigger, (both marked "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF."), serrated grip straps and fitted with checkered walnut grips, (right grip numbered to gun), with silver S&W medallions. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number as a 38/44 Outdoorsman, pre-WWII, 38 caliber, adjustable sight, blue finish, checkered walnut grips, with a 6 1/2 inch barrel at the time of shipment to Von Lengerke & Antonio, Chicago, Il. On December 31, 1931.

Condition: Excellent as re-barreled, with 99% plus original blue finish remaining with a few overall scattered minor scratches and dings. The hammer and trigger retain 99% original case colors. The grips are excellent with only a couple minor dings and sharp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
