Pre-War Colt Super .38 Semi-Automatic Pistol
This Colt Super .38 Automatic Pistol was manufactured in 1931. The pistol has the Colt high polish, commercial, blue finish and is fitted with full checkered walnut stocks. The pistol is complete with a post war replacement two-tone 9-round magazine marked with the Rampant Colt trademark followed by: "COLT SUPER/38 AUTO". The pistol has a short, wide-spur hammer, checkered mainspring housing, checkered slide stop, safety lock and milled trigger with checkered face. The slide has the distinctive half-moon front sight. The main spring housing is, correctly, not fitted with a lanyard loop. The right side of the frame has the serial number "12884" roll-stamped to the rear of the slide stop hole and a "60" inspection mark on the right trigger guard bow. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the assembler's mark, "1" above the Colt "Triangle V/P" proofmark. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped: "COLT" followed by, "SUPER .38/AUTOMATIC" in two lines and the Rampant Colt trademark. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the elongated, two-line Hartford address and 1897-1913 patent dates. The slide is serial numbered "12/888" behind the firing pin stop. The barrel is blued with polished chamber; the right side of the chamber is marked "COLT SUPER 38 AUTO". The top of the frame is stamped with a "C" next to the disconnector hole.
