Pre War Colt Single Action Army Revolver
This is an example of a Colt Single Action Army Revolver that was manufactured in 1925. The revolver has the Colt commercial blue finish on the barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and backstrap. The frame, loading lever and hammer are casehardened. The two piece, black hard rubber grips are checkered and have the Rampant Colt trade mark in an oval at the top. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address: "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." and the caliber designation, "45 COLT" is on the left side. The left side of the frame has the two line three patent date marking followed by the un-circled Rampant Colt. The serial number, "347491" is located on the frame and right side of the front and backstrap under the grips. The last two digits (91) of the serial number are stamped on the rear face of cylinder. The inside of the loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "191" and the grips have a serial number to another gun scratched into the insides.

Condition: Fine as partially refinished. The revolver retains 60-70% of the original finish. The muzzle end of the barrel and front sight has been replaced showing an artificial smooth brown (to hide repair). The high edge of the ejector housing has some minor pitting, the front strap is thinning and shows some brown and the backstrap has a smooth brown patina showing mixed with the original blue finish. The frame and hammer retain 50% original vivid case colors while the balance having a mottled gray patina. There is some minor pitting on the top strap, recoil shield and loading gate. The grips are fine with minor handling marks and crisp checkering.
