The included Colt factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel length and finish. The revolver was shipped to Eaton Chase Hardware Co. of Norwich, Connecticut, on August 8, 1929 as a 1 gun shipment. The letter even documents the rubber stocks (grips). The barrel is marked with the one line "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG CO HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on top and "45 COLT" is marked on the left side. The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates marking followed by a Rampant Colt. Matching numbers are found on the frame and grip straps under the right grip panel with the grips having the number "354473" on the backs. The trigger guard is stamped with the number "1" above the Colt factory triangle proof on the left side and the loading gate has the assembly number "599." Blue finish with casehardened hammer and frame and fitted with checkered grips featuring the Rampant Colt inside an oval at the top.
