This is an excellent example of a early pre-war Colt Commercial Model 1911A1 Government Model, as manufactured in 1927. The left side of the slide has the 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line, two block patent dates and address markings with the right side of the slide, roll-stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45", with the Rampant Colt logo directly after that. There is a "S" commercial sales mark stamped on the barrel in front of the lug and on the frame behind the disconnector hole. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped "GOVERNMENT MODEL" above the serial number. The barrel is an early commercial model with the all blued finish and polished chamber area. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" along with a single "P" on the barrel lug. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with an assembler's "1" mark over the Colt Triangle/VP proof mark. The pistol has a high polish blue finish with checkered walnut grip panels. It is complete with a two-tone flat base magazine and an original pre-war maroon Colt shipping box with the end label marked, "GOVERNMENT MODEL". This lot is complete with, the instruction sheet, Colt advertisement and cleaning brush, inside.
