This is an excellent example of a very early Colt commercial Government model as manufactured in 1915. The slide has the standard Colt two line, two block factory address and 1897-1913 patent dates, with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The right front side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE .45" and the right side of the frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" over the "C" prefix serial number. The upper left front of the trigger guard bow is marked with the Colt triangle "VP" proofmark, with the letter "R" on the rear lower left. It has the standard smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, thumb safety, wide hammer spur and magazine release. Standard fixed sights, lanyard loop on the underside of the flat mainspring housing. It is complete with an original unmarked two-tone blued magazine that is fitted with the lanyard loop on the base. It has the original Colt factory checkered walnut grips with the diamond pattern around the grip screws.
