This German Hohner concertina/accordian (key:C/F) was donated to our local Hospice along with a letter written in 1993 by the owner to H. S. Hohner of Richmond, Va asking for information on its value . Mr. Bickler states that it was brought to the United States from Bavaria around 50 years previously. He describes it as having 21 buttons, and 8 button bass chords. "It is in perfect brand new condition with all reeds and chords working, although one bass chord does not have as much power as the other bass chords." He goes on to ask for an estimate of its value. In the reply he recieved from the company (also included), they decline to give him an appraised value, but submitted a current price sheet for a contempoary replacement. It is classified as a Hohner Diatonic Vienna Style Accordian and it is the HA-3000 Erica model. The replacement, at that time was $950. This instrument was apparently seldom, if ever used and was kept in its original box. I can't say it's in mint condition, because there are a few faint scratches on it, but you'd have a hard time finding one of similar age in any better condition.
