Pre-WWI Colt Frontier Six-Shooter Single Action Army Revolver
This pre-World War I Colt Frontier Six-Shooter Single Action Army revolver was manufactured in 1902, with standard blade and frame "V" notch sights. The two line, three patent date marking with the circled Rampant Colt is marked on the left side of the frame. The barrel has the following markings: the short two line address on top, the desirable original "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" roll marking on the left side, and the tiny number "44" marked on the underside at the frame. The revolver has a casehardened frame with remaining metal surfaces blue and two-piece checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt at the tops. All serial numbers match. This turn-of-the century produced Colt Single Action Army revolver is a desirable companion piece for a Winchester SRC (in the same 44-40 caliber).
BBL: 4 3/4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 44-40
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grips: hard rubber
Serial Number: 205120
Condition: Fine. The barrel and ejector rod housing retain half of the original blue with the balance a smooth gray patina. The cylinder retains 60% thinning original blue finish, which is very strong in the flutes. The grip frame has a smooth gray patina with approximately one-third of the original blue finish on the front of the trigger guard.  Traces of case colors remain on the frame in protected areas, otherwise a smooth gray patina. The grips are very good with moderate wear. The checkering is crisp.  Mechanically excellent.
