This is a pre-prohibition porcelain whiskey jug for Old Maryland Pure Rye Whiskey, made by "G. Biesmeyer - St Louis, Mo."

This old jug is 7-1/2 inches tall x about 5-1/4 inches in diameter, with a small finger loop handle on the backside. The handle is solid and secure. The jug is glazed with no crazing. There is a crack near the base of the handle on the back.

It is marked on the bottom "K.T.& K. CHINA" indicating it was made by the Knowles, Taylor, Knowles China Company. This company was located in East Liverpool, Ohio from approximately 1850 to 1931, when they closed for good. This company was known as Knowles until 1870, when John Taylor and the Knowles' son joined the company. It was then know as Knowles, Taylor, Knowles or K.T.& K for short.

We are not sure how much liquid it holds, as we chose not to fill it.
