This is a very rare pre-prohibition era beer tray from Everett Brewing Co. in Everett, WA. The Everett Brewing Co. was in operation from 1905-1915. In 1909, the Pacific Brewing and Malting Co. of Tacoma took over operations at Everett while retaining the name. The end came for Everett Brewing in November of 1914 when Washington voters voted for state-wide prohibition, which was to take effect January 1, 1915. Pacific Brewing decided to move operations to San Francisco and leased the Everett plant to a wholesale grocer. The beer tray itself was a stock tray (though a rare one at that) made by the Chas. W. Shonk Co. in 1907. Called "Nachtwatcher", or Night Watchman, the litho shows a bearded man wearing a tunic and a armoured headgear. In one hand he holds a battle-ax, in the other he lifts a stein of beer. The inside top of the tray says "Everett Beer"; the inside bottom of the tray says "A Healthy Tonic". The Everett Beer logo appears next to the man in the lower left. The tray is in good overall condition. It does have some chipped paint, as shown in the photos, as well as wear all along the rim of the tray. The tray measures 12" in diameter and is 1.5" tall.
