A beautiful Nazca (Nasca) mantle from Peru, Ca. 100 - 500 A.D. This rare mantle is complex in design and construction. Tie dyed camelid textile material with undyed diamond shapes in three lines on a ground of cochineal orange with woven borders and front and back bottom in reverse Z shapes. Inlaid in rectangles of dark blue, red, rust, cream and white.. Sides of polychrome squares in red, yellow, white, and blue in areas 11 inches by 1-1/4 inches. Multi color woven rope on top and bottom and around neck opening. Condition is very sound with several minor areas of damage as seen in the images.
