A Nasca bowl, Ca. 200 - 500 A.D. - Complex iconography featuring a centrally located AMB (Anthropomorphic Mythological Being) , also called the Cat-Demon, or Masked God. This Phase II bowl has strong Paracas influence. The AMB holds millipedes with animal heads in outstretched arms. The millipedes flow out of the feline head below the face of the AMB. The upper register depicts sharks with feline heads and arms alternating with seed pods or fruits (psychotropic ?). Decorated in white, red,gray-blue,black and orange colors. EX Leroy Irons collection. 7-3/4" inches across by 3" high.
