An excellent Moche V molded vessel from Peru, Ca. 550 - 700 A.D. This fine spouted jar is 5-3/4" high; it portrays a supernatural combat scene in which the Bird Demon has captured the Fox or Rodent Demon and is leading him by means of a serpent wrapped around his neck. The Bird Demon is holding a staff in one hand and a battle mace, as well as the tail of the serpent, in the other. White paint is used to highlight various physical attributes. In excellent condition, with nice dendrites.
