A detailed Moche Figural Vessel of a funerary merchant, Ca. 550 - 700 A.D.
This Moche stirrup piece is of a merchant selling funerary goods. His face shows the attributes of a diseased individual. He is holding a stirrup bottle in one hand and pan pipes in the other. He has items stuck under both arms, with the right arm holding a textile bundle under it. There are painted weapon bundles on the spout, and what appears to be a sun or moon symbol painted on the sides. The arms and legs are in high relief, and there is painted tattooing on the face. A very nice addition. 7-1/2" tall.
