An incredible Moche bottle of the "deer hunt" theme, Ca. 550 - 700 A.D. - The bottle represents the body of the deer, with the head at the front under the spout. On the back is shown the net that was used to catch deer in the "royal" deer hunts. All around the bottle is a fineline scene. At the front is a standing anthropomorhic jaguar holding atlatl spears, which were used in the hunt. On either side are antropomorphic deer. On the center of the deers head is drawn a weapons bundle. A highly complex ceremonial jar. 8" tall.
