Pre Columbian Moche Complex Fineline
A VERY COMPLEX large Moche fineline, Ca. 650 - 800 A.D. - The scene starts with a warrior holding a large weapons bundle. Above him is a snake with Huari influence. There is then a naked prisoner holding a "bean bag" and has blood coming from his nose. Above him is a weapons bundle, representing the weapons taken from him at capture. Standing in front of him is another warrior holding a bean bag as well. In front of him is a very large warrior figure (the size of the figure shows where it is on the scene. The larger the figure, the closer it is). The large warrior holds two spears or darts and a blood cup that shows blood spilling over the top. Above the blood cup is a feline warrior, leading an anthropomorhic helmet (the helmet has arms and legs). Below that is another naked prisoner holding a bean bag and has blood from his nose, with a weapons bundle above him as well. To break the scene, there is a large tree between him and the first warrior. There is one dog in the scene and two birds (showing speed to the scene). Incredible, complex piece. 10" by 8". Ex. West Coast USA collection.
