This is an exceptional Pre-Columbian Mayan Eccentric Flint crescent shaped artifact from circa 600-900 A.D. The piece comes with a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) from Marc A. Schmitt and Bruce T. Mominee. The piece shows a White Patinated Translucent Yellow Flint material and is from Mayan Belieze circa 600 A.D. to 900 A.D. The historic artifact shows a crescent "U" or "C" shape with eccentric hafted ridges or lugs around the perimeter. The piece shows extremely fine flint knapping work and is a very rare artifact. This is truly a one of a kind museum quality piece. The piece shows good overall condition and is displayed in a 4.5"x5.5" and 3/4" thick black glass top display. The artifact is 2 5/8"x3.25" in size. Some thought this Crescent shape was a crab effigy, Mayan cave entrance to the underworld, and others an offering to the Mayan gods.
