Featured in this lot is this Pre-Columbian Archaic Period stone head axe head from ca 5000 to 3000 BCE. The piece shows a three-quarters-groove axe, carved from a dark and hard stone with thick back and cut groove. The piece is likely from the Plains to Northern Plains region and is of a large size. The condition of this Pre Columbian axe head is preserved with some wear to the axe head consistent with the age of the axe head but otherwise shows a preserved condition. The measurements of this axe head is 3 3/4" x 4 5/8" x 1 3/8". The collective weight of this axe head is 1lb 6oz.
