Pre-64 World War II Era Production Winchester Model 70 Pre-War Bolt Action Rifle

Manufactured in 1942. This example has a beaded blade front sight on an integral stippled ramp with a hood, an early elevation adjustable rear sight and a Lyman peep sight mounted to the left rear of the receiver. There is an oval "W/P" proofmark on the left side of the barrel and receiver. The receiver has the cloverleaf tang and the top of both receiver rings are matted. The front ring is tapped for scope mounting. The bolt is electropenciled on the bottom "47886" (possibly a factory error) and has the pre-war safety. Mounted on a multi-point checkered walnut pistol grip stock with sling swivels and a checkered steel buttplate. With a leather sling.

Manufacture: Winchester

Serial Number: 47786

Fine as restocked, 90% of the original blue finish remains with some high edge/handling wear and scattered freckling overall. The bright bolt and follower have some brown discoloration. The stock is a later example for a straight tang with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. The sling is very good.
