Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 70
Manufactured in 1942 in the very rare and desirable "7 M/M" or commonly termed the 7 x 57mm caliber. This caliber was introduced by Winchester in 1937 and discontinued in 1949. The standard production was very limited and is one of the most difficult calibers to locate today. This Model 70 is a standard rifle with a 24 inch barrel featuring a hooded ramp front sight and an adjustable sporting rear sight. The left side of the barrel has standard Winchester markings followed by "7 M/M". The Winchester factory proof is located on the breech end of the barrel and receiver. The receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting and has a polished bolt which is numbered to the gun. Note that the rifle has a pre-war safety. The pistol grip stock is checkered and has sling swivels and a checkered flat steel buttplate.
