Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Carbine in 250-3000 Savage

Manufactured in 1947 during the transition period (late 1945 to 1951) in the rare 250-3000 Savage caliber. Winchester introduced the 250-3000 Savage caliber in 1937 to its line of Model 70s before discontinuing the caliber in 1949. As a Model 70 expert and author, Dean Whitaker has noted that of the approximately 135,000 units manufactured during the first thirteen years of Model 70 production, 250-3,000 Savage chambered variations make up an "extremely small percentage." The carbine has a hooded ramp front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight and receiver tapped for scope/sight mounting. Standard Winchester markings including the factory oval proof on the barrel and receiver. Transition safety, cloverleaf receiver tang, sling swivels and polished bolt with illegible number. Checkered straight comb pistol grip stock with a checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine. The carbine retains 97% original blue finish showing some minor high edge wear. The refinished stock is very fine with a few very scattered mild handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
