Pre-64 Winchester Early Transition Model 70 Bolt Action Rifle

Manufactured in 1946. Has a hooded beaded blade front sight on a stippled ramp and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The barrel has the third style markings implemented in the "Transition" period. The oval "W/P" proofmark is stamped on the rear of the barrel and front of the receiver. The receiver has the "cloverleaf" tang with the top of the ring and bridge matted. There are two factory tapped holes in the receiver ring and one tapped hole in the bridge. The bottom of the bright bolt body is marked with the matching serial number "55363" and has the "Pre-War" style safety. Mounted on a multi-point checkered walnut pistol grip stock with sling swivels, Winchester grip cap and checkered steel buttplate.

Near excellent with 97% of the original blue finish remains with some high edge wear, some scattered minor scratches and scattered minor oxidation freckling. The stock is also very fine with scattered minor scratches, dings and wear. Mechanically excellent.
