Pre-64 Early Transition Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Rifle

Manufactured in 1946. Has a beaded blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The top of the receiver ring and bridge are matted with the receiver ring factory tapped for scope mounts. The tang is the "cloverleaf" style and the bolt has the Pre-War safety. The bottom of the bright bolt is marked with the matching serial number "55629". The left side of the barrel has the Third Style "Transition" markings along with the oval "W/P" proofmark at the breech end. Mounted on a multi-point checkered walnut pistol grip stock with sling swivels and a checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine, 90% plus of the original blue finish remains with scattered minor scratches and dings along with high edge and muzzle wear. There are a few small spots of oxidation on the trigger guard. The stock is very good with scattered minor scratches, dings and wear. Mechanically excellent.
