This is a solid mahagony library table, center drawer, and in the prairie period. The carved decoration is of a fleur de lis. The people who owned this were of French heritage and from an old family in western Illinois. I believe this piece can be attributed to the Chicago architect George Maher and the carving was at the special request of the family. See my next listing for a desk that I can more certainly attribute to George Mahar.
