A pair of Chinese fully relief carved and polychromed interlocking ivory double gourd hulu form plaques. Most painstakingly carved from one tusk to form the two plaques. To outside each depicts Quan yin with flying attendants. All having flowing garments. Figural flower and cloud designs with storks and double gourds. One having a pagoda landscape scene. Inside depicts guan yin with flowers to one side the other depicting flying attendants with double gourds and lotus blossoms. Also has protruding peach and double gourd that inserts into it's mate. Includes fitted wooden silver inlay bases. Qing dynasty period (19th century). Also includes fitted presentation box. Each measures approx. 14" height x 5" width x 2" depth (35.5cm x 12.7cm x 5.1cm). Total ivory weight of 2795 grams.
