Posters: Marilyn Monroe's First Movie Poster
(MARILYN MONROE), 1948, Jumbo Window Card Poster, black and red ink on white, for the first movie in which Marilyn Monroe actually appeared,"Dangerous Years," from 20th Century Fox, Extremely Fine. The jumbo window card, is 28" x 22", including a 5" blank upper margin. Marilyn had just changed her name from Norma Jean Baker in 1946 and was an unknown young actress in 1948. On this card, the billing is "with / Billy Hallopp / Marilyn Monroe." "Lonesome That's Why Men Go For the Wrong Woman!" is printed above the title, and at right is an image of the tempting floozy (Marilyn), leaning against the wall of Joe's Beer Hall, looking for a man to lead astray. The margins are lightly toned, likely from prior display, the black and red text and images are still quite bold and vibrant. In the lower half of the card is a promotion for a Jeff Chandler movie, "Invisible Wall," about "Booze-Blondes-Bullets" being "The Direct Trail To Skid Row!" A wonderful early piece of memorabilia from Marilyn before she became the most famous movie actress ever. An extremely rare, extraordinary piece of Marilyn Monroe and Movie history.
