Post-War Webley Mark IV .38 S&W Double Action Revolver, MFD 1954-57

Our Assessment: This revolver is in Very Good overall condition. This is a nice example of a post war Mark IV, but has import marks on the underside of the barrel. At the end of the First World War, the British military decided that the .455 caliber revolver and cartridge was too large for modern military use and concluded after numerous tests and extensive trials, that a pistol in .38 caliber firing a 200-grain bullet would be just as effective as the .455 for stopping an enemy. This resulted in the development of the Mark IV which was used extensively throughout WWII. This will make a nice addition to a collection of Webleys and can also be used for home protection.
