Post-War Alteration Spencer Model 1860 Carbine
This carbine has the correct three groove sleeved 50RF rifling and does not have a stabler cut-off. The top of the receiver is marked "SPENCER REPEATING / RIFLE CO. BOSTON, MASS. / PAT'D MARCH 6, 1860" (traces remain). It has the standard ladder type military rear sight, buttstock sling swivel, and saddle ring bar with ring mounted on the left side. The left side of the stock is stamped with a clear script "ECW" cartouche.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The receiver, lever and hammer retains 25% original case colors fading to a silver gray with the balance a smooth dark gray patina. A darker gray patina appears on the lock and lower tang. Overall there is some scattered pin point pitting with some very light spotting on the barrel. The wood is also fine with some minor dings, scratches and pressure dents, along with a couple repaired cracks and a missing chip on the forearm.
