Post WWI 1920 DWM Commercial/Police Rework Pistol
This is an arsenal reworked example of a WWI Imperial German military Luger pistol that has been reworked twice. After WWI it was reworked in the 1920 era to conform to the Versailles treaty by converting the pistol into .30 Luger. The top of the chamber area, had the original date removed and it was stamped "7,65" for the acceptable .30 Luger caliber and was then later reissued as a Police luger during the early Weimar period, by reconverted back into 9mm Luger and adding the sear safety bar on top of the side plate. As noted the top of the chamber had the Original WWI date removed and was stamped "7,65" and then later Xed out when a 9mm barrel was reinstalled. It has the standard DWM markings on top of the toggle area, with a small Eagle 6 rework proof on top of the rear section of the toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has no markings and the left side of the and frame rail have the small Crown "N" proof. The underside of the barrel also has been renumbered to matching the pistol and also carries the same small Crown "N" proof mark. The front of the grip strap was original marked "N. SP. Bn. 498" which was partially Xed out and renumbered "1699". It has the standard rust blued finish with checkered walnut grips and it currently has a WWI nickel plated magazine with the wooden base that has also been renumbered to match the pistol.
