Paul Wyeth(1920-83), Modern British

Painter & draughtsman notable for portraits, teacher & writer, born & lived in London. He studied at Hammersmith & Willesden Schools of Art & Royal College of Art for periods from 1934-48, his teachers including Douglas I Smart, Alfred Egerton Cooper, Raymond Coxon & Gilbert Spencer. Went on to teach at Hammersmith School of Art. Among several instructional books by Wyeth was How to paint in oils. He was a member of RP, RBA & Societe des Artistes Francais, winning Gold & Silver Medals at Paris Salon. Also showed at RA, Wildenstein & Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool. National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia, hols his work. Wyeth finally suffered from cancer.
