Port of Spain, Trinidad- The Canadian Bank of Commerce $5 Mar. 1, 1921 Ch. # 75-28-02
Like several other of the largest chartered banks, The Canadian Bank of Commerce established branches in various British Caribbean colonies, and sought permission from the various colonial authorities to issue notes designated in local currency. Permission was soon forthcoming, and specially designed notes were prepared for use in Jamaica, Trinidad and Barbados. The Jamaica issue was designated in one and five pound denominations, while the Trinidad and Barbados issues appeared in local denominations of $5, $20 and $100. All of these overseas notes are scarce and highly sought after, with the Trinidad issue the scarcest of the three. The Trinidad example offered below is problem free save for honest, even wear. Very Good-Fine.
From The Thomas M.
