This charming porcelain chocolate pot with 6 cups and saucers from the late 1920s early 1930s is marked: Hand Painted/TT in Crossed Diamonds/Made in Japan in green. According to Kovels New Dictionary of Marks, page 54-F of Takito, Japan 1880-1948. The majority of the marks are found in 3 different colors: green, blue, or magenta. Colors indicate the quality of porcelain used: green for first grade porcelain, blue for second grade, and magenta for third grade.
This hand painted scene of a house lakeside with woodlands in the background, and a tree at sunset with matching lid are splendidly done. The color combination of brown, green, yellow and orange really make this set stand out and would be a wonderful addition to any Chocolate Set Collection. In very good + condition it does have manufacturing flaws of bubbles on the inside of 2 cups that are not noticeable from the outside, the cocoa pot measures; 9 3/4 inches tall, 6 3/4 inches spout to handle, and 5 1/8 inches across the base. The cups measure 3 1/8 inches tall, 2 5/8 inches across the rim and 2 1/8 inches across the base while the saucer measures 5 3/8 inches across.
SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions feel free to contact me and thank you for looking.
