Pope Pius XI Document Signed, two pages front and verso, 9.5" x 14", Rome, July 5, 1933, in Latin. Overall browning, a couple of small insect hole, two pin holes and minor tears at the top, and an uneven left edge where it was removed from a binding, else very good. Sold with a postal card featuring Pius XI. The document is addressed to Tiburcio Carias Andino congratulating him on becoming Constitutional President of the Republic of Honduras. It is signed boldly on the verso. Pius XI will be remembered as the pope who reigned between the two great wars of the 20th century. Pius XI's reign was one of busy diplomatic activity for the Vatican. The Church made advances on several fronts in the 1920s, improving relations with France and, most spectacularly, settling the Roman question with Italy and gaining recognition of an independent Vatican state.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
