Born Francesco Xaverio Castiglione, pope from 1829 -1830, a mere twenty months of reign. LS in Italian, signed “F. S. Card Castiglioni,” one page, 7.25 x 10, April 12, 1819. Crisply penned untranslated letter. Double cloth matted and framed with the address panel, done in a secretary’s hand, and a potrait of Pius VIII, to an overall size of 20.25 x 18.5. Scattered light toning and foxing, and intersecting folds, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
