Born Benedetto Odescalchi in 1611, he served as Pope from 1676 until his death 1689, and was known in Budapest as the 'Savior of Hungary.' Manuscript DS in Italian, signed “B. Cardle. Odescalco legatus,” one page, 8 x 11.25, 1649. An order to pay to Lorenzo Fabrizi, gunsmith of the Ferrara Fortress, 5 Bolognini for each of 600 muskets repaired. Signed at the conclusion by the future Pope Innocent XI as cardinal. In very good condition, with scattered light creasing, splitting along intersecting folds, several spots of ink erosion to signature and text, and some toning from old tape.
