Born Giulio Rospigliosi and Pope from 1667-1669. LS in Latin, signed “G. Card le Rospigliosi,” one page, 8 x 10.5, August 18, 1666. Darkly penned untranslated letter, signed at the conclusion as cardinal. Double suede matted and framed with a color portrait of Clement, to an overall size of 14.75 x 29. Intersecting folds, with a horizontal fold affecting the tops of a few letters of signature, some light wrinkling, impressions from seal on reverse, and four small separations to blank areas at top and bottom of page, otherwise fine condition. Oversized. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
