Political History. Group of five items: 1) Cartoon of Lincoln from New York Illustrated News, Mar. 22, 1861, 71/2 x 11, entitled "The President's Inaugural." Lincoln dressed in ball gown labeled "This is the way the North receives it." Beside him, Lincoln as a Roman gladiator in battle dress with sword and helmet, labeled "This is the way the South receives it." 2) Biography of Lincoln from unnamed magazine, 12 x 16. 3) Gov. Tilden beside group of Negroes lying on ground. Poster near them, "Niggers reformed at Hamburg, S.C.," 1876. 4) Commissioner Squire, "I have nothing but the interests of the City at heart," by Nast, 1886. 5) A modern Noah's Ark, filled with foreigners riding on animals. Above them a sign, "United States Admission Free." All but first item are 12 x 16. Fine to very fine.
