Political Equality Association Suffrage Pinback, 33mm diameter. Reversed white design on dark blue background, excellent condition. Alva Vanderbilt Belmont (1853-1933), prominent New York City and Newport, Rhode Island socialite, whose money and influence helped to further the cause of several suffrage organizations, founded the Political Equality Association in 1909. This strikingly beautiful celluloid features the image of Herald / Angel, a common icon to the suffrage cause. One of the most sought after of the suffrage pins because of its design and rarity. The sixth star on this pin indicates that it was probably made in 1911 or 1912, just after California joined the list of suffrage states.

Shipping: Small Collectibles (view shipping information)
