Polished Fossilized Coral from Pakistan, with some visible agatization. Single display with one cut face minimally polished to smooth the sharp edges from the cut while leaving the natural beauty of the interior structure visible and unaltered. This piece is very large and is mounted on a black round stone bases to display the beauty of the coral's interior structure as it grew, vertically. Measures approximately 8 inches tall by about 4 X 2 inches, and the base is 2 inches high with a 3 inch diameter. The top edge of the base has 3-4 small chips from the edge that are barely visible. The inside of this milky white coral is amazingly beautiful with ice blue undertones. Examine photos carefully, although the dazzle and sparkle of the open inside cavity may be difficult to capture. Pakistan hosts a significant diversity of fossil corals, particularly on the Balochistan coast, where uplifted Quaternary strata contain fossil communities from the Pleistocene to Holocene epochs. Studies have identified 48 species of fossil corals. Older fossils have been found in the Karachi region.
