Polish Poster-Pulawski (Lot of 2) 30 x 20 Polish Poster-Pulawski
Polish Poster-Pulawski (Lot of 2) 30" x 20" Artist: George Illion. This poster features text in Polish and the picture of the Polish revolutionary war hero, Kosciuszko Pulawski. The translation is; "In America, Will you help fight for liberty in Poland? Eat Less!" This is a fantastic poster, created much in the same spirit as the Woodrow Wilson and Abraham Lincoln versions also for sale in this collection. During WWI the immigrant populations of the United States were called upon regularly for aid and charity. Their sheer numbers made them a suitable group to target. This poster appeals to their patriotic sense, by featuring a Polish war hero. Pulawski came to American during colonial times and fought alongside George Washington. Washington gave him the title of "Father of American Cavalry," and made him general. He died fighting for his adopted country. This figure represents the ideal type of symbol that the Polish immigrant population should identify with, one who loves his adopted country so much he would give anything to aid it in times of war and stress. A fantastic set of posters, a must have for any collection!

Condition-Poster 1-Good; 3 major tears on upper edge, dirt stains and residue on lower edge, crease marks and several burst tears on the poster face.
